More than 100 people from local governments (city councils and municipalities), the national government, academia, and civil society gathered to launch this new collaborative initiative in the country. 🇺🇾
Today’s urban development challenges cannot be addressed in isolation: They require coordination among levels of government, collaboration across sectors, and a comprehensive view of the territory.
The event combined inspiration, exchange, and tools:
– We learned about the “Kennedy Cultura Feliz” initiative, presented by Damián González Bertolino, as an example of transformation starting at the local level
– We conducted a collective mapping exercise where representatives from over 80 governments identified challenges and opportunities by assigning the categories we defined to different colors
– We held a roundtable discussion with representatives from OPP, MVOT, CND, and the IDB, bringing together strategic perspectives on territorial development
– We presented RIL Uruguay’s 2026 agenda and conducted the Land Management Self-Assessment with participating municipalities
The meeting also served as a space for exchange between the Government and Coordination and Environment communities, strengthening a network that continues to grow in Uruguay.
We continue to create spaces to meet, share, and build better cities. 🤗
